The Shift to Human-Centric Lighting
The dominant theme at Light + Building 2026 was undeniably Human-Centric Lighting (HCL) — the practice of tuning artificial light to support human biological rhythms. Nearly every major manufacturer had a dedicated HCL range on display, from Zumtobel's TECTON HCL linear system to ERCO's complete office HCL portfolio.
Miniaturisation Continues
The trend toward increasingly small apertures continued at pace. Spot luminaires with apertures under 20mm were commonplace, with several manufacturers showing 8mm micro-downlights that deliver surprisingly high lumen outputs. This enables designers to achieve virtually seamless ceiling planes.
